So as I was browsing Notcot.org, I discovered Andrej Belic's scuba photography. Andrej is a part-time Austrian photographer, and has photographed dives from his travels around the world. While this imagery brings back fond memories of Pixar's "Finding Nemo," I think it also shows a particular attention to composition and lighting. There are mysterious scenes of rusted ships' hulls peaking through dark and murky water, and glimmering shoals of fish, not to mention camouflaged crabs and crabby sharks. It kind of makes you want to go on an adventure...Climb to the top of Mount Wanahaukalugi or something.
If you'd like to check it out, his website is at http://www.abelic.net/. I also found an interview with him at http://askthephotographer.com/2008/03/25/going-to-the-depths/, where you can see a little more of his work and his process.

They're all so crisp and clean. It does make you want to go on an adventure. Our next field trip, Wanahaukalugi. You nerd...hah!
ReplyDeleteHe mentions painting several times in the interview. I wonder how much he thinks about painting while he's working, and how it affects the choices he makes.
